Horror Conventions- Scary Movie 5

Below is a film poster for the horror film 'Scary Movie 5'.

• There is a central image in the poster which is used and this fills up the whole film poster. What the target audience understand by looking at the image, is that they are all afraid of the monster which is lurking behind them. The indication of their facial expressions suggest to us that it is going to be a funny horror film, due to the way they are portrayed. For example their hand actions and the objects which they are holding. We can see a major star in the image. This is Ashley Tisdale. She has been in many films such as the best known 'High School Musical'. This image being used gives the target audience a big hint that this is a horror film by the monsters hands and by the background where there is smoke. The cameras also give us a hint that they will be recording the scary event, as this is seen with many horror films.
• There is a tag line being used right at the top of the film poster "The Supernatural is coming. Bring protection". This tag line generates anticipation for the audience because shows us that the unexpected is coming and we must protect ourselves. This makes the audience pumped up because they really want to know what this message conveys when the film in initially released. Therefore, this tag line creates a mystery for the audience.
• The title appears underneath the central image. It is portrayed here because the poster wants us to mainly focus on the image rather than the title. The font of the title is red, which indicates/ symbolises to us that it could mean danger or blood. The 'V' in the word movie is very artistic because it is a 5th movie so the editors of the poster wanted to put the roman numeral. 
• On the film poster there is a production company logo which is Dimension Pictures. But however it is seen after the credits in the poster.
